Parade of Lights!
Right AlignPhiladelphia'
s annual Parade of Lights on the river has returned after several years. On Saturday, December 17th, the Independence Seaport Museum hosted the 2nd Annual Holiday Parade of Lights and the Summer Wind was there with a "Moonlight Holiday" theme. We didn't win any prizes but everyone had fun. There was a good crowd along Penn's Landing, the Seaport Museum and the RiverRink ice skating rink. It got a little cold on the river with a little bit of freezing rain, but we persevered. After all, we're sailors! The Summer Wind is now inside the marina at the Philadelphia Marine Center and our lights are still on display every night into January. You might even see us from the Ben Franklin Bridge!

The Summer Wind

Escape the everyday...
There's nothing typical or ordinary about the Summer Wind. Join us for a unique experience you'll remember for a long time. Chinese mariners aren't well remembered by the rest of the world, but they made great contributions to the art and science of sailing craft. Help the crew haul on a halyard and you'll learn about sheetlets, euphroes, lizard eyes, battens and other very old techniques for crossing the sea. And you'll have fun doing it!

We offer a History Sail, a guided tour of the maritime history of Philadelphia and the Delaware River. As the sun warms up , we put on our Hawaiian shirts for our Tropical Sail, play some great tropical beach music from Jimmy Buffett and many others and enjoy the wind and the water! In the evenings, join us for a more romantic mood as the sun sets against the skyline of Center City during our Sunset Sail. On the weekends, the Sunset Sail is even more special as it becomes our new Wine & Cheese Sail. But wait, we're still not done! We continue our tropical theme right into a Moonlight Sail under the stars. We hope you'll join us!

The Summer Wind is available for Private Charters. The 75' schooner North Wind is also available for larger charters (up to 42 passengers). Email or call us to make a request for your special occasion!

Starting this season!
Join us for an amazing weeklong journey around the Chesapeake Bay on our new Chesapeake Charter. We'll take 3 couples to the Chesapeake Bay for some great sailing and great memories. Each day we'll travel to a different port and put our guests up in one charming Bed & Breakfast after another. We'll visit tiny little hideaways like Kent Island or Chesapeake City, small historic coastal towns like Havre de Grace and Chestertown, and you'll certainly get noticed when our Junk-rigged schooner sails into Baltimore and Annapolis. You'll get time in the evenings to explore each port and learn to sail the boat yourself during the day as we explore the Chesapeake Bay. There's a 7 day trip and a 4 day trip to choose from.

For something a little closer to home, we'll also do a 4 day
Cape May Charter. We'll explore the historic town of Cape May, the Delaware Bay and Lewes, DE.
